Cheek augmentation, Before and After

As we get older, one of the most noticeable facial changes is the loss of volume in the cheek area as the malar fat pads move down under the force of gravity. This is most obvious in patients that are slender or have a normal age-appropriate weight. The cheekbones become less pronounced and the skin becomes saggier. In some patients, this can create a ‘gaunt’ or aged look.

Injectable fillers offer a quick and effective method of a subtle cheek enhancement. This additional volume into the cheeks makes the face appear more youthful and ‘uplifted’. The effect is not designed to be dramatic, nor should it be, but a subtle improvement that looks natural. This is a quick solution with immediate effects without the swelling and potential down time and bruising from surgery.
While the effect of injectable cheek augmentation is only temporary, how long it lasts will be influenced by what type of injectable filler is used. We use advanced dermal filler as we find it allows the smoothest and most natural look and lasts from 9-12 months.
Injectable cheek augmentation can be enhanced by the simultaneous use of specialist injections in the crow’s feet and cheek areas. This combination of treatments helps enhance the middle part of the face that so that it looks natural and relaxed, and it only takes 30 minutes.

Patient Experience

As I have aged my cheeks have lost their fullness, so after a lot of thought I decided to ask the doctors at SDS Rejuvenate (as I have other treatments with them) about cheek enhancement. They gave me all the information I needed for me to make a decision. Am I glad I did! I love the shape of my face now and all with no pain! Thank you so much Dr Sally & Dr Ian.
Highly Recommended, will certainly be back for more treatments in the future.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the procedure involve?

Our doctor will apply a topical anaesthetic cream. Once the desired level of anaesthesia is achieved, the doctor will inject the chosen Hyaluronic Acid filler. This also incorporates local anaesthetic, Lidocaine. Throughout the procedure, you will have ample opportunity to evaluate the results and decide with the doctor when the desired results have been achieved.

When will I see results?

The results are evident almost immediately. There may be slight swelling over the next 24 – 48 hours which will then settle. Over the following weeks, your own body lays down collagen around the Hyaluronic Acid filler and provides further subtle enhancement.

How long will the results last?

Dermal fillers typically last between 6 – 9 months but can last up to 12 – 15 months in the cheek.

What are the side effects?

You may notice mild swelling/tenderness after the procedure. You may develop bruising, but this will be transient. To reduce side effects, we offer an antihistamine tablet and advise the use of pre/post cream composed of repairing agents including arnica.
