Tear Troughs

Tear troughs are the hollow area that run from the nose and under the eyes. This area becomes more obvious as we age, giving the appearance of lower eye bags and dark circles.

Effective treatment for this problem is delivered by injection of a specific dermal filler to create a soft and natural correction. This procedure rejuvenates the tired, aging face like no other.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this procedure involve?

Our doctor will apply a topical anaesthetic cream. Once the desired level of anaesthesia is achieved, the doctor will inject the chosen Hyaluronic Acid filler to 3 or 4 points within each tear trough. The filler contains lidocaine, a local anaesthetic to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. Once the optimal appearance has been achieved, a reparative cream is applied and the area gently massaged.

When will I see results?

The results are evident almost immediately. There may be slight swelling over the next 24 – 48 hours which will then settle. Over the following weeks, your own body lays down collagen around the Hyaluronic Acid filler and provides further subtle enhancement.

How long will the results last?

Dermal fillers typically last between 9 – 12 months. Our doctors will advise on appropriate skincare which can improve the quality and hence appearance of the skin below the eye and help maintain the results of the treatment.
