The Fotona Laser Facelift treatment strengthens collagen and immediately lifts by collagen contraction. New Collagen production is also stimulated, resulting in tightness and increased elasticity of your skin. The synergistic laser treatments treat both the exterior of the face as well as the interior oral cavity to produce results from both inside and out. The procedure provides both immediate and ongoing results.
The laser treatment lifts, tightens, plumps, improves skin texture, and provides wrinkle reduction on the skin with the use of 4 unique laser modes: SMOOTH®, FRAC3®, PIANO® and SupErficial™.
SmoothLiftin™ A revolutionary non-ablative Er:YAG intraoral treatment for controlled and gentle “bulk-heating” to stimulate collagen contraction. In addition to an immediate effect resulting in the shrinkage of collagen fibres, the initiation of new collagen generation occurs. The effects result in an overall improvement of tightness and elasticity in the treated tissue as well as a plumping effect to the nasolabial folds from the inside, much like a filler.
FRAC3® A self-induced, fractional effect of the Nd:YAG laser and a specific pulse structure that generates tiny regional spikes of high temperature. This nonablative modality enables the treatment of specific, deeper imperfections to complement the effect of the intraoral treatment, as well as restore youthful texture.
PIANO® A unique, ultra-long Nd:YAG pulse mode for the third stage of Fotona4D®. The laser causes bulk tissue heating safely and rapidly, from the outside in, by concentrating energy delivery subcutaneously. The PIANO® pulse is in the super extended seconds regime mode, with a brushing technique for completing the full-thickness bulk heating with an overall synergistic tightening effect.
SupErficial™ A light cold Er:YAG ablation that gives a pearl finish to the skin. SupErficialTM additionally improves the appearance of the skin and reduces imperfections by using propriety VSP technology, enabling the operator to easily adjust the laser to an extremely controlled light peel, without thermal effects, for a no-down time, precise treatment.
Fungal nail infections are very common and affect 1 in 15 people in the UK. Toenails get infected as a result of mechanical trauma to the nails creating an entry point for fungal spores. If you have athletes foot then it is possible for your toenails to become infected. Once infected, toenails will remain infected unless they are treated. Infection can cause discolouration, hardening, thickening, disfigurement of the nails and even pain.
Laser treatment for fungal toe nails is becoming more and more popular. Laser has a high success rate (approx 90-95%) compared to over the counter and prescription medicines and delivers much faster results. The laser procedure is fast, effective and comfortable with results seen within weeks as the nail plate grows out clear. Laser works by killing the fungus that destroys the nail.
How does it work?
We use a Fotona ND Yag laser to treat fungal toe nail infections. The Fotona laser is considered the best on the market. The laser beam passes heat through the infected nail and destroys the fungus by reacting with the fungal cell wall. The laser is able to target the fungal cell without harming the nail at all. The advantage of using a laser to treat fungal toe nails compared with oral medicines or pharmaceuticals is that it is quick, effective and has no side effects. Many of the over the counter treatments sold to treat fungal nail infections are simply ineffective and stronger, oral medicines can have severe side effects such as liver toxicity.
Your laser treatment will be weekly for the first 4 weeks and then monthly for a further 2 months.
How soon will I see results?
The nail will not become instantly clear but results from laser treatment can be seen in a matter of weeks to months. After a course of treatments, a new healthy nail will push the old, infected nail out. This can then be cut or scraped away.
It is important that you maintain a high level of foot hygiene both during and after your laser treatment. You will be given instructions on how to maintain foot hygiene so as to ensure that your nails do not become reinfected. In general, socks should be laundered at high temperatures, old shoes should be treated with anti-fungals or discarded and any athletes foot infections treated daily with anti-fungal foot sprays or talcs.
Fotona’s high-performance Nd:YAG laser systems have introduced new standards of efficiency in providing safe and effective hair reduction.
Safe for All Skin Types
Fotona’s Nd:YAG lasers incorporate revolutionary pulse-control technology and a proprietary three-dimensional treatment pattern (FRAC3®) to provide safe and effective hair reduction. Unlike other wavelengths, only Nd:YAG is safe to use on all skin types. Fotona’s innovative system effectively targets surface treatment areas while leaving surrounding tissues unaffected.
The success of permanent hair reduction treatments depends largely on a patient’s skin and hair type, as well as the skills and treatment insight of the practitioner. Most patients can expect a significant reduction in unwanted hair, and any future hair growth will usually be thinner and lighter, and thus much less pronounced than before.
Why is laser the treatment of choice for hair removal?
Lasers remove hair for good, giving you a long-lasting, even permanent result. In only a few treatments.
Traditional hair removal methods, such as waxing, shaving, depilatory creams, plucking/tweezing, sugaring, and stringing provide only temporary results — some for fewer than 24 hours. Within hours or possibly days, you are back at it again, hunched over a magnifying mirror to tweeze out facial hair, running a razor over tender skin, or enduring painful waxing. To make it worse, these methods can often stimulate hair growth!
Laser has another advantage, in that you NEVER AGAIN have to let the hair grow out a few days before your treatments in order to get it to work, as you do with the other methods.
How does laser remove hair?
Hair removal lasers emit a light at a specific wavelength that is known to be absorbed by the pigment (colour) in the hair follicle — without damaging the surrounding skin. The light is converted to heat energy, which in turns disables the hair follicle so that it will not produce another hair.
What makes a FOTONA laser hair removal treatment safe and comfortable?
Fotona’s high-performance Nd:YAG laser systems with FRAC3® technology have introduced new standards of efficiency in providing safe and effective hair reduction – using an innovative system that effectively targets hair follicles with a combination of selective and homogenous photothermolysis.
What areas of the body can be treated with laser hair removal?
Most areas of the body and face can be safely treated.
Are some people better candidates for laser hair removal than others?
Laser hair removal works best on individuals with light skin and coarse, dark hair (brown and black) hair. We have had superb results with individuals with all ranges of skin colour and hair colour.
How long does a laser hair removal treatment take?
A number of factors determine the length of time for a treatment. At SDS Rejuvenate, we plan for adequate time to go as slowly or as fast as is comfortable and appropriate for each client.
Why does it take a number of laser hair removal treatments to clear an area of excess , unwanted hair?
Hair grows in repeating cycles, and only in the actively growing phase does the hair contain enough pigment to absorb sufficient energy to disable the hair follicle. When hair is in the dormant phase, it has little or no pigment, and it cannot absorb the laser light. When you come to us for your treatment, we disable all of the hair follicles with actively growing hair in the treatment area. A few weeks later, some of your dormant hairs will have moved into the actively growing stage, and you will come in for a treatment to disable those. As this cycle gets repeated, you experience increasing reduction of hair.
How many laser hair removal treatments will I need?
Most laser companies tell us to tell you that it will take six to eight treatments to achieve clearance of an area. We have some clients who are happy after four treatments, and a few who have needed more than eight.
What is the cost of laser hair removal?
The cost of laser hair removal varies depending on the size, complexity and other factors of the area treated.
What causes hair growth?
Heredity and ethnic background constitute the primary causes of hair growth. Superfluous or excessive hair growth in women often results from normal biological changes that they undergo throughout life, such as puberty, pregnancy, menopause and old age. Any one of these changes may cause an increase in hair growth in areas that never had hair before, or cause a small to moderate problem area to worsen. Other causes of hair growth can be associated with certain medications, stress and obesity.
More serious causes can be an abnormality in the endocrine system, such as irregular menstrual cycles; ovarian disorders, such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS); and thyroid abnormalities.
Why do temporary hair removal methods such as waxing and tweezing stimulate hair growth?
Waxing, tweezing and depilatory creams are among the top offenders for stimulating hair growth. When a hair root is pulled at or tugged on to remove it, a blood supply rushes to the area nourishing the hair follicle. When this process is done regularly the result is growth of very coarse, deep rooted hairs. Most clients are surprised to learn that years of waxing and/or tweezing have played a role in making the hair growth worse.
Is laser hair removal uncomfortable, or even painful?
You may experience a very small but manageable sensation that we describe as a “pinch” or a “zap” when we pulse the laser. Most of our former waxing, stringing and electrolysis clients report that the discomfort is far less than those methods of hair removal. Stress, fatigue, caffeine, your menstrual cycle and pain tolerance may also influence the level of comfort — or discomfort — that you feel.
Fotona Nightlase Snoring Treatment – Is snoring keeping you up at night?
How it works? Snoring occurs when turbulent airflow causes tissues of the nose and throat (the soft palate) to vibrate. Fotona Nightlase Snoring Treatment is a gentle laser treatment that heats the tissue at the back of the throat to allow air to flow more freely. The laser has a gentle tightening effect by causing the contraction of collagen in the oral mucosa tissue. This effectively reduces the amplitude of snoring and improve quality of sleep.
Who is it suitable for? There are no contra-indications to treatment although an initial consultation will be undertaken by the doctors and any individual concerns can be addressed.
Why is It important? Annoying your partner is not the only problem with snoring and sleep apnoea. When you do not get quality sleep, you are likely to experience chronic daytime sleepiness, morning headache, fatigue, irritability and impaired concentration.
What does the treatment involve? 3 to 4 separate treatment sessions over a 6-week period. Each session lasts approximately 20 or 30 minutes. A laser beam is directed at the soft palate which smooth’s and tightens the tissue. This is completely pain free and there is no downtime!
Are there any side effects? As the Nightlase snoring solution is non-invasive, it is highly unlikely you will experience any side effects. After your 20-minute treatment, you can walk out of our clinic doors and get back to your busy day!
How long does it last? This treatment helps to keep your airways clear for up to 12 months. After this period, you can book a top up treatment to ensure you can continue to get a better night’s sleep.
How do I access treatment? Just call the clinic on 0151 625 8080 and request an appointment with Dr Jones or Dr Dolan for a free consultation during which any further questions you may have can be answered.
When you reach 25, your collagen stimulation starts to decline and eventually becomes dormant. Why does this matter? Because collagen is an important protein that makes up most of the skin’s supportive structure. As we age, we lose the ability to produce it which results in wrinkles. However, thanks to Fotona’s laser treatment we can wake this up, brighten and retexture the skin and stimulate collagen production.
This non-invasive procedure requires no downtime and instantly reduces pore size, improves texture and immediately conditions the tome of your skin. It’s great for all skin types, complements any injectable or advanced procedure and is suitable for the face, chest, side of neck and hands. The most common areas to be treated are the face and neck.
How does it work?
Collagen production is stimulated by the laser which causes a localised thermal injury that in turn initiates a wound healing response. In time, this process helps the production of new collagen, tightened pore size, improved texture and overall appearance.
Does it hurt?
Most people find the treatment comfortable. We can use cool air throughout treatment to help minimise any discomfort that you may feel. You may have some slight redness immediately after treatment which does not last long. We can apply Youngblood mineral makeup post treatment if you need to return to work or have errands to run.
The Fotona Nd:Yag laser offers the perfect solution for treating thread veins on the face or legs. Thread veins are a very common problem and are formed as a vein becomes dilated, thus becoming larger and visible through the skin.
The treatment course can either totally remove the visible veins or markedly reduce the appearance of the unwanted red or blue veins.
Treatment involves a course; leg veins require between 2 or 3 treatment sessions and facial veins usually between 1 or 2 treatment sessions, scheduled 4 to 6 weeks apart.
How does the treatment work?
Treatment is performed by the Fotona laser and the energy emitted (1064nm) targets the haemoglobin (blood) found within the vein. This heat energy cause coagulation of the vein (clot) and heats up the wall of the vein causing them to collapse. The body no longer recognises the vein as being part of itself and it is reabsorbed by the white blood cells.
How many treatments do I need?
For leg veins we advise between 2 and 3 treatments (very occasionally 4), each treatment scheduled 4 to 6 weeks apart. For facial veins often only 1 treatment is required, but depending on the extent maybe a further 1 to 2 treatments again scheduled 4 to 6 weeks apart.
Does the treatment hurt?
The treatment is not painful, the sensation can be likened to “the snap of an elastic band”.
How long does the treatment take?
This depends on the extent of the area, or number of areas being treated, but usually one area takes approximately 15 minutes.
Are there any side effects?
You may notice the area being treated looks more obvious as the vein becomes dark, this is to be expected, and you may develop a scab. This will fall off within a 1 to 2 week period.
Are there any contraindications to treatments?
Treatment of light should not be used if you are prone to keloid scarring, past medical history of wound healing, one taking medication that causes photosensitivity or anti-seizure medication, have epilepsy (triggered by flashing lights) or an active tan (including false tan). We offer a free consultation to discuss your requirements and we will ask you to complete a medical questionnaire before your consultation.
Our clinic is now offering the newest of non-surgical Er:YAG laser therapies: FDA-approved IntimaLase and Incontilase for treating vaginal relaxation syndrome. The laser has a heating effect on collagen in the vaginal walls, causing restructuring and stimulation of new collagen synthesis, this causes a tightening of the vaginal canal.
Laser treatment for this problem is relatively new. Most people equate lasers with tissue destruction, but the procedure uses a laser that doesn’t remove or damage tissue.
Here are some frequently asked questions that may be asked regarding Vaginal Rejuvenation Therapy:
What is this treatment IncontiLase and IntimaLase?
It is a system of laser therapy which works by stimulating collagen growth which leads to vaginal remodelling and increased elasticity of the vaginal walls increasing lubrication and reducing vaginal irregularities. This is an in-clinic procedure which is minimally invasive and requires no post procedure downtime.
Who will benefit from treatment.
It is primarily designed to improve a variety of vaginal irregularities including vaginal laxity, stress urinary incontinence, vaginal dryness and genito-urinary syndrome of menopause; simply it is suitable for women who have lost vaginal tone through childbirth or just have had to many birthdays! It is for women who experience leakage of urine when exercising, laughing or sneezing, or who have a loss of sensation during intercourse.
It is a treatment which provides hope for oncology patients with treatment induced menopause or for those whom hormonal therapy is sometimes contra-indicated for example, a past history of breast cancer or those who carry the BRCA (1-2) gene.
What does it involve?
The procedure involves a probe being inserted into the vagina and rotated during which a series of laser pulses are directed towards the top and side walls. The procedure takes about twenty minutes and needs to be repeated a further two times, one month apart i.e. a total of three treatments over three months. At each consultation, symptoms will be evaluated before treatment and at each subsequent treatment session, as well as three months following the last treatment.
Does the procedure hurt?
No, it doesn’t. This is an in-clinic treatment that does not require any preparation or post procedure care. It is remarkably painless. However, towards the end of the treatment, you might experience an altered sensation often described as a pin pricking sensation rather than discomfort, this is very short lived lasting only seconds.
What can I expect?
The treatment has been carried out for a number of years in Europe and the results are generally very good. You can expect an improvement in the vaginal tone with the result that your vagina may feel a little tighter and quite significantly any small amount of urine leakage is usually reduced quite dramatically. Our patients have reported a significant improvement in quality of life and have been very satisfied with the procedure and results.
How long do the effects last?
Normally the benefits of the treatment last up to a minimum of two years but in some cases, can be lifelong.
Are there any risks?
The treatment is technically straight forward and fairly risk free. Occasionally, patients can feel a mild burning sensation for a couple of days and it is important that you refrain from sexual intercourse for two weeks after the procedure, otherwise, the treatment is pain free.
Is this treatment for everybody?
No, not everybody. It is not intended to be a treatment for people with significant incontinence or maybe a prolapse (in these cases surgery maybe the best option). To identify whether you will be suitable for this treatment you will have a consultation with the doctors during which a full medical history will be taken and you will be asked to complete a questionnaire. The doctors will evaluate the information and discuss your suitability for this laser treatment. If treatment is deemed suitable you will undergo a quick gynaecological examination and your urine sample will be tested.
Is this what they call a Designer Vagina?
This is a term that I don’t necessarily like and although there is some cosmetic element to the treatment, the treatment is intended to have a far more medical basis to improve urinary incontinence and also improve the quality of sexual intercourse experienced.
How do I get more information on the procedure?
You can get more information from SDS Rejuvenate MediSpa. The reassuring aspect of SDS Rejuvenate MediSpa is that the clinic has experience of three qualified doctors with extensive experience in the field of General Medicine, General Practice and Gynaecology.
